Continental Grand Prix 4000S II Black
The most popular tire ever, for good reason.
BlackChili™ Rubber
Black Chili sounds like what happens when you leave grandma’s signature recipe on the stove too long, but it’s Continental's recipe for success. With the use of advanced nanometric carbon sciences, Continental has figured out how to increase grip, decrease rolling resistance, improve life without compromising one of the other qualities. You don’t get up to 20 thousand miles on rubber that grips this hard without some seriously advanced compounds.
Vectran™ Breaker
Inspired by spiderwebs, Vectran™ is a synthetic liquid crystal polymer. It’s ok if you don’t know what that means; all you need to know is that it has enormous tear resistance at extremely low weight — exactly what you want as a puncture protection insert. A Vectran™ Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than similar nylon breakers, without hurting rolling resistance.
About Continental
More than 100 years experience in the development and production of bicycle tires has made Continental a unique company within the industry.
Continental is the only German bicycle tire manufacturer to produce its tires in Germany. Knowing this serves as a mighty incentive to their engineers and everyone else involved in the manufacturing process to constantly strive for further innovations.
Continental's technology and development center, in Korbach, is constantly developing new revolutionary technologies such as the unbeatable Black Chili compound and the ultimate Vectran breaker anti-puncture technology, both used at the top end of race sport.
These technologies demand sophisticated processes to ensure their legendary end-product quality, and these innovations as well as the ProTection and RaceSport technology for MTB tires, can only be manufactured in their factory in Germany – “Handmade in Germany”.
In order to offer the best tire for any application, they rely equally on dialogue with their professional racers, hobby cyclists and everyday bike riders.
As a global player, Continental also maintains high-tech production facilities outside of Germany, where Continental tires are produced for you with an equal degree of care and dedication. One thing all Continental bicycle tires have in common is that they are developed in the technology center in Korbach, Germany, where they also undergo strict inspection.
